The two data sets contain the time series and maps of melting detected over the Greenland ice sheet using two approaches published in the literature. The first approach (denoted as DAV) is described in Tedesco (2007). The second approach (denoted as DYN) is modified from the one published in Tedesco 2009. The DAV approach is a more 'conservative' approach in terms of sensitivity to liquid water content where the DYN approach is more 'aggressive' (e.g., sensitive to melting with relatively lower vales of LWC). For each data set, the time series represents the area subject to melting each day. Beside, daily masks of melt (binary maps with melt = 1) are also provided. The timeseries is a vector spanning from day 1 to day 270 of every year. The binary maps are provided as a 721 x 721 x 270 matrix, containing the 721 x 721 binary mask (melt / no melt) for each day between day 1 - day 270 of every year (with the exception of 2012 that is being updated). Data refers only to the ice sheet and exclude coastal areas. Citation : Tedesco M., 2012, updated current year. Greenland Daily Surface Melt 25km EASE-Grid, [list dates of temporal coverage used].
